Metairie, LA
Tuesday, October 5, 2010
The U.S. Coast Guard and Bureau of Energy Management held their fifth series of hearings in Louisiana. During the hearings, panel co-chairman Captain Hung Nguyen accused Transocean of withholding evidence requested by hearing officials. Transocean owned the Deepwater Horizon oil rig that exploded on April 20th, resulting in the deaths of 11 people. Later during the hearing, Yancy Kiplinger, the rig crew member in charge of monitoring danger alarms on the rig, related his experiences about being on the bridge during the explosion. He also said that the general alarm didn't sound until after the first explosion.
