At a closed door meeting at the U.N., Arab League envoy Kofi Annan asked Security Council members for support to implement an April 10th peace plan for Syria. The plan calls for a cease-fire by all parties, dialogue between the political government and opposition leaders, and withdrawal of heavy weapons and troops. Following the closed meeting, the U.S. and Syrian ambassadors to the U.N. briefly spoke to reporters.
