Washington, DC
Saturday, June 16, 2012

On June 18, 1812 the United States declared war on Great Britain.  Hostilities continued until the Treaty of Ghent was ratified on February 16, 1815.  We'll be live from Fort McHenry National Monument & Historic Shrine in Baltimore, Maryland on Saturday with Vince Vaise, chief of interpretation.  We'll hear about the fort bombardment and the creation of the Star-Spangled Banner.  Tall ships began arriving in Baltimore this week to mark the war bicentennial and exchanged fire with Fort McHenry as they sailed toward the harbor.
