Washington Journal Looks at Battleground Iowa

Washington, DC

The Washington Journal continues it's ten day, ten state look at battleground states by taking a closer look at Iowa, with its 6 electoral votes.

Iowa holds the first caucuses in the nation, usually in early January. President Obama's 2008 caucus win is seen by many as the moment that propelled him forward over Hillary Clinton. In the 2012 Republican Caucuses, Mitt Romney was initially declared the victor, although later tabulations pushed Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum ahead by fewer than 100 votes.

Over the course of the battleground states series, we will hear from top political reporters and analysts in top swing states and also talk to key partisans on both sides of the aisle. Among the issues we’ll explore: the political and economic landscape, updates on the presidential race and key Congressional contests, key issues impacting the state, what to watch for on election night and prospects for post-election litigation.
