Washington Journal for Monday, July 16

Washington, DC

David Brody, Author, “The Teavangelicals” and Christian Broadcasting Network News Chief Political Correspondent

Topic: A look at David Brody’s new book, “The Teavangelicals:  The Inside Story of How the Evangelicals and the Tea Party are Taking Back America.”  We will discuss Mitt Romney’s efforts to win support among these political groups, and the power they wield in this year’s presidential campaign.

Susan Glasser, Foreign Policy Editor in Chief

Topic: Guest will talk about the magazine’s Failed States Index – which it says serves “as a stark reminder of the world's inability to do much at all for the world's most troubled countries, from new pockets of instability to persistent global problem areas.”

David Wise, Government Accountability Office, Physical Infrastructure Director

Topic: The federal government owns or leases 400 thousand buildings.  A recent report by the GAO found problems in how the properties are managed and maintained.  This comes as the Obama Administration has expressed a desire to achieve $3 billion in savings by the end of 2012 through either selling properties or reducing annual operating costs.
