Washington Journal

Washington Journal for Monday, November 26

Washington, DC

Matt Lewis, Daily Caller, Senior Contributor @mattklewis

Guest will discuss the future of the Republican Party and what he thinks the GOP needs to do to rebrand itself to key blocks of American voters. He’ll also address the ongoing so called “fiscal cliff” negotiations in Congress.

Dan Glickman, Bipartisan Policy Center, Senior Fellow @BPC_Bipartisan

Guest will examine efforts to create areas of bipartisan agreement as the lame-duck and upcoming session of Congress debate the so called “fiscal cliff” and other key fiscal and economic issues.

Nick Timiraos, Wall Street Journal, Housing Reporter @NickTimiraos

The Federal Housing Administration (FHA) recently announced it faces a $16B shortfall. FHA offers mortgage insurance to homebuyers and the projected shortfall comes as a result of homeowners delinquent on their mortgages.  While the agency is funded by fees it charges to mortgage holders, it may for the first time be forced to ask the federal government for taxpayer assistance. Guest will discuss FHA practices that led to its current economic circumstances, what it’s doing about it and the potential of Congress to offer the Administration a bailout.
