Press Secretary Jay Carney conducted a daily briefing at the White House. He was joined by Chairman of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission Gregory Jaczko and Deputy Secretary of Energy Daniel Poneman, who discussed the U.S. and Japanese response to the damaged nuclear power plants in Japan, which occurred as a result of the recent earthquake and subsequent tsunami.
Mr. Carney then spoke with reporters about the Saudi intervention in protests by the Shi'ite Muslim majority in Bahrain, President Obama's stance on gun control and other issues.
