White House Press Secretary Jay Carney holds his daily briefing at the White House where he discusses security at military installations around the world, the situation in Syria and the budget and debt ceiling debate.
At the top of the briefing, Carney announced that Vice President Biden will visit Colorado on Monday to view storm damage and clean-up efforts. President Obama will travel to New York on Tuesday for the U.N. General Assembly meeting and an event with Former President Bill Clinton that focuses on health care.
On Wednesday Carney announced that Pres. Obama will attend a memorial service for the victims of the Navy Yard Shootings on Sunday.
On Tuesday, Carney opened his daily briefing with two news announcements. He told the White House press corps that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu would come to Washington on September 30 to discuss progress on final status talks with the Palestinians.
He also highlighted a DHHS report indicating that 6 out of 10 Americans without health insurance could receive inexpensive coverage thanks to the Affordable Care Act.
