Women Leaders in Business and Government Share Their Stories

The Washington Post hosts an event with leading women in business and politics to share their personal stories and offer advice to the next generation of women leaders.

Secretary Hilda Solis was interviewed on her experiences as the head of the labor department. She spoke about her life growing up and barriers to women in the workplace. This discussion was hosted by the Washington Post in a forum on women in leadership.

NBC’s Andrea Mitchell, White House Chief of staff Nancy-Ann Deparle and Shirley Ann Jackson participated in a discussion on women in leadership. They shared their experiences on  the various challenges they underwent early on in their careers and the workplace family balance.

Opera Singer Denise Graves and online retailer chairman Susan Lyne spoke how they use networking to get to their perspective careers.

Former Olympic figure skater Michelle Kwan and Washington Congresswoman Jaime Beutler participated in panel discussion on women in leadership. Michelle Kwan talks about how she uses the disciplines she learned as an Olympic athlete to her transition out of sports. Rep. Beutler spoke about being a woman in Congress. Also in this discussion we’ll here from the head of Facebook’s Global public policy.
