Political Cartoon, 1909

Saturday, October 13, 2012

At the 1916 Democratic National Convention in St. Louis, thousands of women lined the streets in silent protest for women's suffrage as delegates walked to the convention. This demonstration became known as the “Golden Lane.” At this event at the Kansas City Public Library, author Margot McMillen describes how Missouri women fought for the right to vote, and contributed to the national movement.
