World Leaders Speak at UN General Assembly

New York, NY
Tuesday, September 25, 2012

This past week, Pres. Obama, along with leaders from Libya, Israel, Iraq, and the Palestinians were among the speakers at the United Nationals General Assembly. Leaders from all 193 member nations are invited to address the international governing body during the opening sessions.

On Tuesday, President Obama delivered his fourth address to the General Assembly. He opened by speaking about Ambassador Chris Stevens, who was killed in Libya among regional unrest. He said "the events of the last two weeks are not simply an assault on America," but an assault on the ideals of the UN.

On Wednesday, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi, British Prime Minister David Cameron, and Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda gave their addresses.
