AHTV: Reagan’s Neshoba County Speech
Washington, DC
Saturday, May 8, 2010
Thirty years ago, Ronald Reagan delivered a speech on
states rights at the Neshoba County Fair in Mississippi.
The speech generated controversy in that it was seen as an
illustration of the Republican Party’s southern strategy
towards racial politics at the time. The Organization of
American Historians convened a panel on the speech in
Washington recently.
