Lieutenant General Daniel Allyn, Commander, XVIII Airborne Corps and Fort Bragg and Former Commanding General of Regional Command-East and of Combined Joint Task Force-I, spoke to the Institute for the Study of War on the progress in East Afghanistan. The Lt. Gen. just returned from a one-year tour of duty.
Lt. Gen. Allyn addressed the situation in Eastern Afghanistan, where he recently served, and which is often the most violent region, due to its proximity to the porous Pakistan border.
According to its website, the Institute for the Study of War is a non-partisan, non-profit, public policy research organization that seeks to "advance an informed understanding of military affairs through reliable research, trusted analysis, and innovative education."
Retired General Jack Keane, (U.S. Army), Chairman of the Board at the Institute for the Study of War, moderated the discussion.
