The Bipartisan Policy Center hosted a discussion on campaign finance in the era of unlimited spending by outside groups. The panel discussed what role outside groups, Super PACs and recent court decisions are playing in this year’s presidential, congressional and local election contests.
The panel included Michael Malbin, Executive Director of the Campaign Finance Institute, Bob Biersack, Senior Fellow for the Center for Responsive Politics and Former Special Assistant to the Staff Director at the Federal Election Commission, Robert Kelner, Election & Political Law Practice Chairman at the Covington & Burlington Law Firm and Eliza Carney, Staff Writer for CQ Roll Call. Former Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman and John Fortier, Director of BPC’s Democracy Project co-moderated the event. The program also included questions from audience members.
