Next week, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear two cases on same sex marriage:  On March 26 “Hollingsworth v. Perry”, a federal challenge to the 2008 amendment to the California constitution known as Prop 8, which eliminated the  right of same-sex couples to marry in California.  And on March 27: “ United States v. Windsor, “ a challenge to “ DOMA”, the 1996 Defense of Marriage act, which defines marriage for all federal purposes as the union of one man and one woman.
