Committee Holds Hearing On Government Waste

Rep. Darrel Issa (R-CA) chaired a House Oversight Committee hearing on spending practices in the Departments of Education and Transportation.

The committee heard recommendations from Education and Transportation inspector generals for reducing wasteful spending in the departments.

Witnesses included Anthony W. Miller, Deputy Secretary of Education; Kathleen S. Tighe, Inspector General of the Department of Education; John D. Porcari, Deputy Secretary of Transportation; and Calvin L. Scovell III, Inspector General of the Department of Transportation.
