The music of singer-songwriter Curtis Mayfield spoke to a
generation struggling for civil rights in the nineteen-
sixties. While recording with the Impressions, songs such
as "People Get Ready," "We’re a Winner" and "Keep on Pushing"
appealed to an entire movement demanding change. Mayfield’s
impact on the civil rights movement was discussed at the
Carter Library.
