Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Martin Dempsey held a news conference where they formally announced that they are lifting the ban on women in combat. Sec. Panetta also announced that each branch of the military will have to come up with a plan to intergrate women in combat.
