Author Martha Ackmann discusses her book, “The Mercury 13:  The True Story of Thirteen Women and the Dream of Space Flight.”

The book is an account of the women pilots who attempted to become America’s first female astronauts in the 1960’s.

The women passed the same tests as the Mercury 7 astronauts, yet they were not selected for any missions.
