Military historian Stanley Weintraub talks about his book, “General Sherman’s Christmas: Savannah 1864." It’s about Civil War Union General William Sherman’s capture of Savannah, Georgia. It also recalls what Christmas was like in the South during the final holiday season of the war.
Mr. Weintraub has written several books on the theme of Christmas in wartime including, “Silent Night: The Story of the World War I Christmas Truce,” “Pearl Harbor Christmas” and “Eleven Days in December: Christmas at the Bulge.”
