House Conservatives Discuss Agenda for 113th Congress

Washington, DC
Tuesday, January 22, 2013

A group of conservative Republicans held a meeting with the press called “Conversations with Conservatives.” It focused on the House floor vote on raising the debt ceiling scheduled for Wednesday. Representatives Schweikert, Labrador, Duncan and Massie gave tentative support for a Republican plan that raises the debt ceiling until May, but calls for a Senate budget and balanced budget in 10 years. Schweikert said they will trust the Republican leadership but warned that if they fail, “there would be hell to pay.”

Conversations with Conservatives is newly-formed group consisting of conservative Representatives that will hold monthly meetings with the press to talk about the conservative agenda and issues of the day.

Today's participating members include Rep. Tim Huelskamp (R-KS), Rep. Raul Labrador (R-ID), Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), Rep. Mick Mulvaney (R-SC), Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-SC), Rep. Justin Amash (R-MI) and Rep. David Schweikert (R-AZ).
