House and Senate Intelligence Committee Members Brief Reporters on Closed Benghazi Hearings

The House and Senate Intelligence Committees held closed hearings involving ongoing intelligence activities connected with the attack on the U.S. consulate in Libya.

Following the House hearing, Intelligence Committee Ranking Member Rep. Dutch Ruppersberger (D-MD) spoke with the reporters.  Individuals testifying at this hearing included National Intelligence Director James Clapper, CIA Acting Director Michael Morell along with other government officials.

Late in the afternoon, Senate Intelligence Committee Chair Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and Vice Chair Saxby Chambliss (R-GA) spoke briefly to reporters about their first meeting on Benghazi. Sen. Feinstein described, in cursory terms, of watching a "real-time" film, drawn from a number of sources, of the incident at the U.S. consulate compound. In addition, she identified the witnesses who testified, including DNI Clapper, Acting CIA Director Morell, Gen. Overson from the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Ambassador Patrick Kennedy, the head of security for the State Department.

Chair Feinstein also reminded reporters that the committee will meet with former CIA Director Gen. David Petraeus in a closed-door session Friday morning.

House Budget Chairman Releases Budget Proposal
