Pointing to North Korea's recent test of a nuclear bomb and the launch of a ballistic missile, Rep. Steve Chabot (R-OH) writes that the "U.S. policy towards North Korea has failed."
Rep. Chabot (R-OH), chair of the House Foreign Affairs Subcmte. on Asia and the Pacific, is one of the participants at a Winter Symposium hosted by the Institute for Corean-American Studies. He is calling on new Secretary of State John Kerry and the new Defense Secretary to revise U.S. policies and confront what he calls “North Korea’s provocative actions.”
Other participants, including security specialists and professors of Asian Studies, examine the security challenges facing the Obama administration as it pursues a new military strategy, shifting the U.S. defense focus from Europe to the Pacific.
