This week on Newsmakers, our guest is Rep. Harold Rogers (R-KY), Appropriations Committee Chairman. He discusses the continuing resolution he’s been working on to fund the federal government. His plan would extend the current Continuing Resolution (CR) for most agencies through Sept 30, but would have more detailed instructions for the Pentagon and veterans programs. He says the House could consider the CR near the end of the February, before the sequester cuts would go into effect. on March 1. The Rogers plan, if passed, would avert a government shutdown that could happen March 27 when the current CR is due to expire.
Our guest reporters are Andrew Taylor, Associated Press Congressional Reporter and Roxana Tiron, Bloomberg News Congressional Reporter.
