Newt Gingrich, Conservative Leaders Speak with Students

The Clare Booth Luce Policy Institute hosted a discussion on Conservative leadership with Newt Gingrich, Mary Katharine Ham, Kate Obenshain and Star Parker, as part of it's annual Capitol Hill Seminar for students spending the summer in Washington.

The discussion focused on current events, such as the Supreme Court's upholding of the healthcare mandate and the so-called war on women that has played a large role in political discussion this year.

The Institute focuses on conservative womens' issues and seeks to promote conservative women to leadership positions in politics, business and academics.

House Conservatives Discuss Agenda for 113th Congress

A group of conservative Republicans held a meeting with the press called “Conversations with Conservatives.” It focused on the House floor vote on raising the debt ceiling scheduled for Wednesday. Representatives Schweikert, Labrador, Duncan and Massie gave tentative support for a Republican plan that raises the debt ceiling until May, but calls for a Senate budget and balanced budget in 10 years. Schweikert said they will trust the Republican leadership but warned that if they fail, “there would be hell to pay.”
