President Obama Delivers His Weekly Address

Washington, DC
Saturday, December 15, 2012

President Obama delivers his weekly address, offering his condolences to the people of Newtown, Connecticut, where a gunman entered an elementary school on Friday and killed 27 people, including 20 children, and then turned the gun on himself.

House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) announced on Friday that the Republicans would refrain from recording a weekly address, allowing President Obama to speak to the nation alone.

In his statement, Rep. Boehner said “there will be no Weekly Republican Address this weekend so that President Obama can speak for the entire nation at this time of mourning. I join the president – and all Americans – in sending prayers and condolences to the victims’ loved ones.”
