President Obama Delivers Statement on the 'Fiscal Cliff'

Washington, DC
Friday, December 21, 2012

President Obama delivered a statement on the "fiscal cliff" negotiations at the White House before the start of the holiday weekend.

The House of Representatives finished their legislative business for the week Thursday night without passing House Speaker John Boehner's "Plan B."

The Senate is wrapping up its business and will adjourn without passing any "fiscal cliff" legislation. Both houses are expected back in on December 27 to continue work on legislation to prevent the combination of tax hikes and spending cuts that economists say would send the country back into a recession.
