In his "State of the Union" Address, Pres. Obama underscored his commitment to maintaining the “finest military in the world.” Today, Defense Sec. Leon Panetta, along with other DOD officials, outlined the Department's fiscal 2013 budget request.
According to reports by Reuters, Panetta's proposal is expected to cut $260-billion in spending through 2017, taking the Pentagon more than halfway to its targeted cuts for the decade.
The specifics of the Pentagon spending plan will not be formally released until President Barack Obama unveils his budget in February.
