Education Secretary Arne Duncan discusses the nation's education priorities when he appears at the National Press Club. Following remarks, the Secretary answers questions.
Sec. Duncan looks at today’s education challenges and outlines what he hopes to accomplish in his second term in President Obama’s administration. The Secretary has taken the lead in pushing for the President’s proposal to provide high-quality early childhood education to low- and moderate-income families.
He also has been a forceful advocate for lowering interest rates on federal student loans and other efforts to make college affordable for students at all income levels.
Sec. Duncan assumed his position in January 2009 and previously served as CEO of the Chicago Public School system.
