Earlier this year, Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) proposed a $9 trillion deficit reduction strategy in his book, "The Debt Bomb: A Bold Plan to Stop Washington from Bankrupting America.” The Senator's proposal would also shrink the size of the federal government by 25 percent.
This morning, Sen. Coburn appears at the Ripon Society where he will talk about the upcoming elections and prospects for resolving the "fiscal cliff" facing the country at the beginning of the new year.
The two-term Senator served on the Simpson-Bowles deficit reduction commission and is a member of the "Gang of Six," a bi-partisan group of senators who offered their own $3.7 trillion, ten-year deficit reduction plan in July 2011.
