Over the next hour, former White House Chief Usher Gary Walters – who stayed at his post in the evacuated White House to see to the needs of the president and his staff – recalls the events at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue after terrorists crashed planes into the World Trade Center Towers in New York and into the Pentagon.
