California Supreme Court Same Sex Marriage Oral Argument From March 4, the California Supreme Court hears oral arguments for six consolidated appeals, In re Marriage Cases ( S147999). The challengers contend that the current California marriage statutes are unconstitutional in limiting marriage to opposite-sex couples and denying same-sex couples access to the designation of marriage. The Court overturned the ban by a vote of 4-3.
