C-SPAN on the Road: Frankfort, KY
Our fourth stop as Book TV and American History TV travel on the 2011 LCV Cities Tour is Frankfort, Kentucky - the capital of the Bluegrass State. Join us on the weekend of August 27-28 as we explore the literary culture and history of a city that at one point was a focal point of the Civil War as both Confederate and Union armies occupied the state capitol building at points during the war.
On Book TV, we take you inside the family life of famous Kentucky politician Henry Clay, as well as exploring the roots of bourbon distilleries - a major part of the state's economy throughout its history. We'll also meet some of those authors who have chronicled the people, events, and places that have made the city what it is today. And on American History Television - hear about Kentuckian and Supreme Court Justice John Marshall Harlan's role as "The Great Dissenter" on our nation's highest court. And among many historic sites, we'll tour the Old State Capitol - hearing about the state's role in the Civil War.
