C-SPAN on the Road
Our second stop on the 2011 LCV Cities Tour is Savannah, Georgia. Join us on the weekend of June 25-26 as we explore the literary culture and history of one of America’s oldest cities.
On Book TV, we take you inside the literary scene in a place made famous by John Berendt’s “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil” as we talk with local authors about the impact that book had on the town. We will also introduce you to others who have chronicled the people and events that have made Savannah what it is today.
On American History TV we tour historic sites in the city that General Sherman did not burn as his March to the Sea culminated in this port town, a major hub of the slave trade in the south. And we learn about the unique historic preservation efforts going on here.
