    Book Discussion on The Culture of Fear

    Barry Glassner talked about the new edition of his book, The Culture of Fear: Why Americans Are Afraid of the Wrong Things - Crime, Drugs, Minorities, Teen Moms, Killer Kids, Mutant Microbes, Plane Crashes, Road Rage, & So Much More - Updated for Our Post 9/11 World (Basic Books; rev. ed. January 5, 2010). He talked about the changes since the first editon in 1999. He responded to telephone calls and electronic communications.
    A sociology professor at the University of Southern California, Barry Glassner is also the author of The Gospel of Food: Why We Should Stop Worrying and Enjoy What We Eat.
    He was interviewed outside the C-SPAN Civics Bus near Haines Hall at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books on the UCLA campus on Saturday, April 24, 2010.
    The program opened with scenes of the festival and program announcements.

    BBC Parliament TV’s “Westminster in Review” examined the major events in the British parliament from the previous three months. Topics included the September 18, 2014 Scottish Independence referendum, changes to the House of Lords, and the downing of Malaysia Airlines flight 17 over Eastern Ukraine. BBC Parliament’s Alicia McCarthy hosted the program.
