    White House Daily Briefing

    White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest responded to reporters' questions on a variety of topics, including the October 3, 2015, airstrike on a Doctors Without Borders hospital in Kunduz, Afghanistan, in which at least 22 people were killed. Mr. Earnest called the airstrike a “profound tragedy.” Other topics included trade agreements, Russian activities in Syria, and gun control.

    Hospital Bombing in Afghanistan

    General John Campbell, commander of the Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan, spoke to reporters about U.S. efforts to support Afghan forces fend off a Taliban attack in which a Doctors Without Borders hospital was accidentally hit by an airstrike, killing 22 people October 3, 2015.

    Presidential Candidate Hillary Clinton Remarks on Gun Violence

    Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, a 2016 Democratic presidential candidate, spoke to supporters about gun control in a town hall meeting at Manchester Community College in New Hampshire. She called for universal background checks and for the end of gun show and online sale loopholes. She talked about the September 30, 2015, shooting at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon. She also asked Nicole Hockley, mother of six-year old Dylan Hockley who was killed in the 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, to come up and speak. Ms. Hockley talked about her son Dylan and the work of Sandy Hook Promise where she serves as managing director.
