FCC Meeting on the National Broadband Plan The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) released its National Broadband Plan to Congress, a blueprint for how U.S. regulators will provide broadband internet access to the roughly 100 million Americans that don't currently have access to it. The national broadband plan was mandated by the Recovery Act, which provided $7.2 billion for broadband access in rural and underserved areas.

The $787 Billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) was signed into law by President Obama on February 17th, 2009. Known as the economic stimulus law, it was passed to jumpstart the U.S. economy as well as to save and create more than 3.5 million jobs over the next two years.

Recovery Progress Report:
As of March 9, $349.2 billion of the $787 billion stimulus has been committed to states; $198.1 billion has been paid out.
