This week, a discussion recent legislation introduced by Sens. Leahy and Hatch that, if passed, would make considerable changes to patent law. A contested piece of the legislation involves the size of patent damages awarded by courts. Ms. Maghame believes the new legislation greatly restricts how developers of technology are compensated if they win patent suits. Mr. Black believes the new approach is fair.
