Lawmakers work to Extend Housing Tax Breaks

Congress is trying to extend an $8,000 Federal tax credit for first-time homebuyers to June 30, 2010. The plan, similar in scope to the “cash for clunkers” program, would remove the first-time homebuyer requirement. Sen. Johnny Isakson (R-GA) & Housing Sec. Shaun Donovan testified before the Senate Banking Committee on this stimulus-package tax break and answer broader questions about the housing market.
