Monday, December 16th Watch the program On the evening of December 16th, C-SPAN will provide viewers with an overview of the Battle of Antietam and look at the 140th anniversary commemoration of this Civil War event. The Battle of Antietam (September 17, 1862) was the single deadliest day of combat in American history with casualty totals of approximately 23,000 killed, wounded or missing. Antietam marked the end of Gen. Robert E. Lees first invasion of the North and led to President Lincolns issuance of the Emancipation Proclamation. Guests
