The Civil War: Patrick Cleburne & the Battle of Franklin - Saturday 6 & 10pm ET

Historian Damian Shiels (rhymes with "meals") talks about the life of Irish American soldier Patrick Cleburne ("CLAY" - "burn") and his role in the Confederate army during the Battle of Franklin, Tennessee. Cleburne came to the United States around 1850 and later enlisted in the Confederate army where he rose to the rank of major general.

American Artifacts: Octagon House & the Treaty of Ghent - Sunday 6 & 10pm ET

Two hundred years ago this December 24, the Treaty of Ghent was signed in Belgium, a neutral nation, ending the War of 1812. We visit the Octagon House in Washington, DC, where President James Madison signed the ratified treaty in February 1815. It was there that he took refuge the previous August after the British burned the nearby White House. We follow a group of Belgium officials who present a gift of specially cultivated "Treaty of Ghent" rose bushes to the Octagon, which is now a National Historic Landmark.
