Mr. Sehat discusses how presidents and politicians have interpreted these ideas and used them to further their own agendas. He's the author of "The Jefferson Rule: How the Founding Fathers Became Infallible and Our Politics Inflexible." The National Constitution Center in Philadelphia hosted this event.Â

Sherman & the End of the Civil War
Best-selling historical novelist Jeff Shaara discusses the latter half of the Civil War - focusing on General William Tecumseh Sherman's involvement in the burning of Atlanta, Georgia and Columbia, South Carolina. Shaara argues against the popular depiction of Sherman as a villain in the burning of Columbia and also talks about how slaves reacted to his military victories. The Smithsonian Associates hosted this program.Â
