Ten ways to “meet an author"
through Book TV

Students and teachers have a chance to “meet” authors every weekend on Book TV. Pick an upcoming or archived program and use the questions below to guide your viewing.

1. Who is the author? What is his or her background?

2. Where is the event taking place? When? Who is in the audience?

3. What is the book about? What is the purpose of the book? inform, persuade, entertain?

4. How is the topic of the book significant in American history? in current events?

5. What inspired the author to pursue this subject?

6. Describe the author’s writing process.

7. What question would you ask the author?

8. Would this book make a good movie?

9. What can you learn by meeting an author that you can’t learn by reading the book?

10. What aspects of this book interest you the most?
