From Classroom Teachers   | General ideas for using clips
  • Campaign specific  According to the clip, what was the focus of George W. Bush's campaign in 2000? What advantages does an incumbent have in a presidential campaign and election? What are the disadvantages? To what degree are the circumstances of the disputed election of 2000 coming into play in the 2004 election? In the post-9/11 era, have the responsibilities and priorities of voters and candidates changed? How?
  • Media literacy   To what degree have the "images" or the visuals of Bush's presidency had an impact on the electorate? How has the media treated the president? How has the president treated the media?
  • More ideas     Is America better off than it was four years ago? Has George W. Bush has a successful presidency? To what degree will his record as president determine the outcome of the election? What other presidents in history served during war time or an economic slow down? Were they reelected?
