Objectives
  • To examine how President Theodore Roosevelt's use of the Navy influenced foreign policy in the early 20th century.

    Before Viewing C-SPAN Have students research the size of the U.S. military at the turn of the century. How much money was appropriated to the Navy or military? What international events had occurred that supported the need for a stronger military? What was the United States economy like during this period of history? Have students research public opinion towards war during the early 1900's.
