 C-SPAN COMMUNITY

C-SPAN Community Etiquette
For Discussion Forums

YOUR COMMUNITY
The Discussion Forums are open to all community members. Your participation in the C-SPAN community plays a large part in the quality and variety of discussions. C-SPAN cannot vouch for the accuracy of messages to the forums. Community Members must use their own common sense to judge, evaluate and decide about the usefulness of the postings.

The Community Manager participates in the community to inform members of programming, keep discussions on-topic and remind members of participation guidelines. If you see a message that you believe violates C-SPAN's Guidelines, please notify the community manager at manager@c-span.org. Do not respond to "violators" via the bulletin board - this only aggravates the situation and diminishes the purpose for the discussion topic. If you are receiving unwanted e-mails from community members - please contact the ISP or enact a block mechanism in your e-mail software.

RESPECT
Community members are expected to respect each other and their wide differences in point of view. We expect language appropriate for general conversation, with no insulting, racist, obscene or sexually explicit remarks. Do not spam the boards with multiple postings at one time - let members respond to your postings.

STYLE AND TEXT
Postings must be in plain text with upper and lower case letters. All other style postings will be removed. Duplicate postings will be removed. Please keep postings length to a minimum so members can respond or build off postings. Postings that exceed three paragraphs or 1,200 words will be removed as well.

PRIVACY
C-SPAN respects the privacy of individuals and we do not disclose to anyone not affiliated with C-SPAN any information provided during your registration process. To further protect your privacy, do not post your phone number, address, or any other private information. If you decide to post private information, it is at your own risk. (only your user name and city/state appear automatically with your posting).

ON-TOPIC
Stay on the topic. Please send your suggestions for new topics to manager@c-span.org. You may want to include Topic: and To: at the beginning of your postings to make it clear which discussion thread and members you are addressing.

DELETIONS
We reserve the right, though we do not have the obligation, to remove without notice any posting which we consider to be in violation of C-SPAN's Guidelines, or view as diminishing the value of this online community. This includes postings that defame, insult or harass anyone, or that are in any way abusive.
