The instructions contained in the motion seek to report the same back to the House forthwith with an amendment to fully fund Social Security, Medicare & Medicaid, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and Military Personnel for the entire FY2014 in the event of a shutdown. It would also prohibit the privatization of Social Security and prevent Medicare from being turned into a voucher system. Rules Committee Resolution H. Res. 352 Reported to House. Rule provides for consideration of H.J. Res. 59 with 1 hour of general debate. Previous question shall be considered as ordered without intervening motions except motion to recommit with or without instructions. Measure will be considered read. Bill is closed to amendments. Section 2 of theresolution provides that it shall be in order at any time from the calendar day of September 26, 2013, through the calendar day of September 29, 2013, for the Speaker to entertain motions that the House suspend the rules and that the Speaker or his designee shall consult with the Minority Leader or her designee on the designation of any matter or consideration pursuant to this section. The resolution provides that the amendment printed in the report shall be considered as adopted and the joint resolution, as amended shall be considered as read. |
