Who is invited to the State Dinner?
A diverse representation of guests from across the country, including elected officials, cabinet members, community leaders, academicians, business leaders and entertainers. Invitations were created by the White House calligraphers and were mailed in July. One hundred thirty six guests will be hosted.

What is the menu?
The White House Chef Walter Scheib has served his creations at the White House for 7 years. Roland Mesnier is the White House Pastry Chef, responsible for creating the dessert. His works of art have pleased guests and residents for twenty-two years.

How are the wines selected?
The wines served at the State Dinner, like the menu, are chosen to highlight the ties that exist between the two countries. For the Mexico State Dinner, two excellent wines, representing the best in American Viticulture, that were hand-crafted by first generation Mexican Americans, will be served.

Where does the dinner take place?
The dinner will take place in the State Dining Room, on the State Floor, following a reception in the East Room of the State Floor. Entertainment will also take place in the East Room.

How many guests will be in attendance?
One hundred thirty-six guests will be seated in the State Dining Room.

How are guests seated?
A member of the Bush Administration will serve as the table host at each table. A member of the Mexican delegation sits to the table host's right. Traditionally, couples are separated. Guests will receive escort envelopes for seating upon arrival at the White House.

What are the floral arrangements?
Chief Florist Nancy Clarke, who has worked in the White House Flower Shop for nearly 20 years, has helped Mrs. Bush select a beautiful arrangement of cream hydrangea, white Casablanca lilies, white roses, and limes. The flowers began arriving at the White House on Thursday, August 30.

The Tablesettings?
Sage colored damask tablecloths will cover the thirteen tables. The Clinton China, which is white and gold, the Vermeil Flatware, the Morgantown Crystal, and gold candlesticks, with cream colored tapers, will be used at each table. The floral centerpieces will be in bamboo-style Vermeil baskets.
