Representatives from The American Legion are testified at a joint hearing of the Senate Veterans' Affairs Committee and House Veterans' Affairs Committee on their legislative priorities on Wednesday.

The American Legion presented the findings of their recently published "2012 System Worth Saving Task Force Report,"  conducted on 25 Veterans Affairs Department medical centers.

In the report, the Legion’s survey team found the VA’s quality of health care to be ‘excellent’ but adds that further changes are needed to improve performance, specifically on its appointment system, staffing and women’s health services.

The American Legion National Commander James Koutz participated, along with the Executive Director, Director and Chairman of the National Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation Commission and the Chairman of the National Legislative Commission.
