Brent Scowcroft was Gerald Ford's National Security Advisor from November, 1975 to the end of his term January, 1977 and replayed that role for George H.W. Bush from January, 1989 to the end of his term in January, 1993.
Stephen J. Hadley was President George H.W. Bush's advisor from January, 2005 to January, 2009.
James L. Jones served as President Obama's first National Security Advisor from his inauguration until October, 2010.
The National Security Advisor is a member of the Executive Office of the President and serves as his chief advisor on all national security issues.
